Itinerary

Thimphu (2N) →Punakha (1N) →Trongsa (1N) →Bumthang (2N) →Phobjikha (1N) →Paro (2N)

Day 1 | Arrival Paro → Thimphu

• Meet & greet at Paro International Airport
• Scenic drive through Paro Valley to Thimphu (65 km | ~2 hrs)
• Hotel check-in
• Visit Weekend Market (Thu–Sun) – local produce & crafts
• Leisure time to acclimatize
• Overnight: Thimphu (2,300 m)

Day 2 | Thimphu Cultural Exploration

• Breakfast
• Guided visits:
o Handmade Paper Mill – traditional Bhutanese papermaking
o School of Arts & Crafts – 13 traditional art forms
o Folk Heritage Museum & National Library
• Afternoon sightseeing:
o Memorial Chorten, o Buddha Dordenma Viewpoint, o Changangkha Lhakhang, o Takin Enclosure (national animal), o Zilukha Nunnery
• Overnight: Thimphu

Day 3 | Thimphu → Punakha

• Breakfast & checkout
• Drive via Dochula Pass (3,150 m)
o Photo stop at 108 Druk Wangyel Chortens
o Panoramic Himalayan views (weather permitting)
• Hotel check-in at Punakha
• Visit Punakha Dzong – Bhutan’s most beautiful fortress
• Overnight: Punakha (1,350 m)

Day 4 | Punakha → Trongsa

• Breakfast
• Walk to Chimi Lhakhang – fertility temple
• Stop at Wangdue Dzong Ruins
• Drive across Pelela Pass (3,300 m) – gateway to central Bhutan
• Visit Trongsa Dzong, ancestral home of Bhutanese royalty
• Overnight: Trongsa (2,200 m)

Day 5 | Trongsa → Bumthang

• Breakfast
• Visit Trongsa Watchtower Museum
• Drive via Yotongla Pass (3,425 m)
• Visit roadside Yatha Wool Weaving Centre
• Explore Jakar Dzong (White Bird Fortress)
• Evening stroll in Jakar Town
• Overnight: Bumthang

Day 6 | Spiritual Bumthang

• Breakfast
• Visit:
o Jambay Lhakhang – one of Bhutan’s oldest temples, o Kurjey Lhakhang – royal cremation site, o Suspension bridge walk to villages, o Swiss Farm (local cheese & produce)
• Evening local food tasting in Jakar
• Overnight: Bumthang

Day 7 | Bumthang → Phobjikha

• Breakfast
• Scenic drive to Phobjikha Valley
• Visit Black-Necked Crane habitat (seasonal)
• Gangtey Gompa monastery
• Guided Nature Trail Walk
• Overnight: Phobjikha (2,900 m)

Day 8 | Phobjikha → Paro

• Early breakfast
• Drive to Paro (~6 hrs)
• Afternoon sightseeing:
o National Museum (Ta Dzong), o Paro Dzong, o Historic wooden cantilever bridge, o Kyichu Lhakhang (7th century temple)
• Evening walk in Old Paro town
• Overnight: Paro (2,200 m)

Day 9 | Tiger’s Nest Adventure

• Breakfast
• Hike to Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest Monastery) (Approx. 4–6 hrs round trip)
• Evening leisure & relaxation
• Overnight: Paro

Day 10 | Departure

• Breakfast
• Transfer to airport
• Depart with lifelong memories of Bhutan.
